Gas Appliance Repair Technician

Gas appliance repair technicians are the heroes who come to the rescue when water heaters, washers, dryers, stoves or fireplaces are malfunctioning. As a gas appliance repair technician, you will specialize in gas appliances, particularly heating devices, and supporting mechanisms — for example, thermocouples (or heat sensors), thermostats, safety valves and pilot lights (often the most frequent source of problems). Keeping up with manufacturer innovations and service bulletins and being well-educated in the diagnosis, service and repair of the components that keep appliances working.

Residential Furnace Technician

Furnaces are the workhorses of a home that are typically overlooked until problems arise, which can make life miserable for the homeowners. Furnace repair technicians return a furnace to normal function by interpreting the data from diagnostic tools, such as voltmeters and combustion analyzers, and adjusting system controls accordingly. As a Residential Furnace Technician, you are responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing furnaces in residential dwellings. 

Niagara & Halton Skilled Trades Academies not only provides training to those wishing to break into the gas technician field in Ontario, but also to those who are currently working in the trades and would like to upgrade their current license.

All kidding aside, the notion of the gateway trade is what make the gas techinician certification such an attractive one for people considering a career in the trades. Many students that have gone through to receive their certifications end up attaining apprenticeships in other trades and are able to work towards red seal certification. Learn why that matters.

Many trades require the lengthy apprenticeship system to attain the red seal that deems them fully qualified to work. When you are training to be a gas technician you actually get certified in the classroom and then enter the real world.
