You've finally finished your Gas Technician 3 certification and are eager to enter into the workplace and get started on your career. We're excited for you to get started too! But, why stop simply at a Gas Tech 3 when you can complete your Gas Technician 2 certification with just a few extra weeks of training?

Before jumping in and starting your new career in the gas technician industry with your Gas Technician 3 or Gas Technician 2 courses, it's important you know what you'll be working on while you're in the field.

If you do a simple search online, you'll find lots of forum threads of tips on how to connect, install, or repair gas lines yourself without hiring a professional. There are some jobs that might seem like simple tasks that can be done at home without hiring a professional. These simple tasks, however, can be incredibly dangerous if they aren't done correctly.

If you are looking for a career in the skilled trades and are considering taking a course to get your Gas Technician license, there are some questions you should ask yourself before you decide to take this step.

When you decide to go back to school to get a skilled trades education, you may feel pretty intimidated. Especially if you are entering an industry you have never worked in before, like gas fitting. By getting an idea of what a day in the life in your new career looks like, you will feel more comfortable with your decision because you will know exactly what you are getting into after you graduate.

Skilled trades jobs are growing in popularity. People are choosing to get back into the workforce after a layoff or are upgrading their skills to pursue a more rewarding career. If so, I am confident that you are already hiring licensed skilled trades professionals to ensure your business is successful. But that said, even when your employees have their Gas Technician license, there are a number of levels of qualification, as you know. Are you hiring graduates of a G3 program? G2 licensees?

Encouraging your staff to continue their education in the industry and upgrade their certifications is essential for the success of your business. You may require your G3 gas fitters to upgrade to their G2 certificate, or you may want to see your employees develop their skills toward long-term career goals that will promote their job satisfaction and increase their skills in the field. 

For high school students, school is officially out for summer; and for those already in the workforce, days are longer, the weather is better and maybe there are some dreams of upcoming vacations.

Summer isn't often the time that people think about taking classes, but summer courses have been becoming increasingly popular for those who are looking to upgrade their qualifications, start a new career in the skilled trades or even begin their post-secondary education.

It may only be February yet, but we're already looking forward to spring. And it's not just because that means warm weather is coming (after all, this winter hasn't been too bad), but because our next full-time class is just around the corner.

Spring is a great time to register for skilled trades training in Ontario, especially Gas Technician certification in Niagara. Because you are fully licensed in just 17 weeks, you're looking at jumping into the industry just as business is picking up for gas BBQ installations, pool heater installation and home renovations involving gas lines!
