Niagara and Halton Skilled Trades Academies are proud of all of our graduates and love sharing their stories. Antony Hanson attended the Halton Skilled Trades from May until June of this year to get his G3 license. He is now the owner and general manager of Canada Climate Services Inc. in Stoney Creek. Antony took the time to tell us why he chose an education at the Halton Skilled Trades Academy and decided to start his own business.

When the media covers the Skilled Trades, we get excited to share it with you. Recently, Sun Media released their Guide to Higher Education, featuring the article Breaking Down Barriers to Skilled Trades. And, although it focuses largely on apprenticeship opportunities, the importance of the message remains: "Helping under-represented groups pursue the skilled trades is a priority for the Ontario College of Trades."

Despite the extreme need for skilled trades workers in Canada, some people find that the Gas Technician jobs available just aren't what they are looking for. Maybe the hours aren't idea for your schedule or the work isn't what you thought. Maybe you just don't like working for other people. And that's all ok. Traditional educational facilities can take years, meaning you will be out of the workforce, not making money for a long time. This avenue may require hours as an apprentice before you are fully licensed. The good news is, this isn't the only education option.
