Sometimes finding the right trade is easy, and you can find the perfect fit without much thought. For some people entering the trades, however, it can be a more difficult process to find the trade that fits them best.
Students who choose gas technician training find themselves in a position which offers them the best skill set to get them into a fulfilling career. Today, we're going to talk about some reasons why so many people choose gas technician training, and why it could be the right choice for you.
Gaining Transferable Skills
During your Ontario gas technician training, you'll gain a number of skills that can be used in a number of different gas fitting jobs and even other trades. A number of students who graduate from G3 programs or G2 training move on to work in other trades, such as plumbing, electrical, or sheet metal. The skills gained from gas fitting training can be expanded and is useful when working in another trade.
When working in gas technician jobs as a fully licensed technician you also can hone transferable skills that are useful in every day life as well. Though you will be working mainly independently, you still are required to interact with people at service calls, or when working with other gas techs. Having people skills is important, and as you train and work as a gas technician you will be able to improve those skills.
A Fulfilling Career
What many graduates of skilled trades programs say they enjoy most about their time working as gas technicians in Ontario is the ability to work with their hands. When working as a gas fitter you see physical proof of your labour at the end of every service call or installation. At the beginning of the call, something wasn't working effectively, and at the end of your day on the job, you will have fixed the problem. This gives a number of workers in the field fulfilment in their career choice.
Year-Round Employment
Choosing to get training to be a gas technician in Ontario is also a choice that offers you a year-round career. Unlike some other trades, which don't have work all year long, as a licensed gas technician there is work available all 12 months. During the colder months, naturally, residents of Ontario will require maintenance and service on their furnaces. In the summer the jobs don't slow down either, requiring work in residential air conditioning units, outdoor gas fireplaces or barbecue's, or even gas run pool heaters.
