By taking the Gas Technician 3 and Gas Technician 2 training courses you learn the transferable skills required to be successful in a number of trades, which makes it the perfect introductory course for many students considering a career in the skilled trades. Once you have completed your G3 and G2 training and certification, these licenses can help open doors to multiple skilled trades opportunities. With your Gas Technician license the next step is to gain hands on experience through an apprenticeship within your specified trade. ## Preparing For Your Apprenticeship There are a number of apprenticeships that graduates of the G3 and G2 training courses enter into and are very successful in. Some of these apprenticeships include: - Plumbing - Sheet metal - HVAC - Millwright, and more. The reason Ontario gas tech program graduates are successful in a number of different trades is because through the Gas Technician training, you gain [transferable knowledge and skills](https://blog.getatrade.com/blog/transferable-skills-from-gas-technician-training) that can give you a competitive advantage in the workforce. As well, by completing the training courses you are able to work with a variety of companies that not only perform gas tech work but also that specialize in trades you may be interested in. As you complete these courses you will be able to prepare you for entering an apprenticeship in a number of trades. ## Choosing This Career Deciding between different skilled trades apprenticeship opportunities can be a difficult decision, but the best place to start is with a training program that will provide you with extensive hands on training. Through this training and further apprenticing in a trade, you will be able to develop your skills and understand new technologies to help determine which trade is best for you. If you're interested in starting your journey with Gas Technician training, the Niagara Skilled Trades Academy has an upcoming Gas Tech 3 training course beginning on December 11.
