What made you decide to pursue a career in the skilled trades?

"I've always been a hands on, not afraid to get dirty kind of girl. I went to a trades high school so I knew then that the trades were for me."

Why did you choose the Niagara Skilled Trades Academy?

"NSTA was able to give me the knowledge that I needed to start my career in just 17 weeks."

How quickly did you find employment after completing  your license?

"I finished school on a Friday and started my job on the following Monday."

What is it like to be a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field?

"As a woman entering a male dominated field, sometimes you have to put up or shut up and prove yourself, but the males are very respectful and supportive, I find."

What advice do you have for other women thinking about pursuing a career in the skilled trades?

"Don't be afraid. Be patient. Be strong. Be confident."
